Our property types are named after parts of medieval castles with reference to the nearby Carrickmines Castle. The outer bailey of the castle was located inside the gatehouse and was where many of the important buildings of the castle were located. We have named number 10A and 10B as the Outer Bailey owing to their position just beyond the gatehouse. 10C is named after the Stonekeep. This was a structure deep within, and as such, the most secure part of the castle. The portcullis was a strong latticed grille gate found at either side of the gatehouse; it was used to prevent unauthorised access to the castle. We have named number 7, the Portcullis owing to its position at the perimeter of the development. 5A, 6A, 7A and 7B are named the Motte, which was the raised ground within the castle on which the keep was built to ensure its strength and security.
